Eleanor Roosevelt once said, "Do one thing everyday that scares you." When I joined the Academy six years ago, I did not realize that this would become my teaching matra. So many students are afraid to try. They are afraid of success, and they are more afraid of failure. As a teacher, it is my goal to walk with them through those fears. We are a family. Some days, I am a teacher. Some days, I am a counselor. Some days, I am a mom. Together, we make something happen. Every student in my classroom is one of my kids, and all I want for them is the very best.
I have a son of my own, Canaan. He is my pride and joy. While he is now 6'5" and out of school, he will always be my baby. I also have my other baby, Perry. He is my dog. Then, there is Gatsby. He is my unofficial emotional support hamster. Canaan also has a turtle and rabbit (Squirtle and Morty). Yes, we have a small zoo.
Soon, I will have a new last name! I will be marrying Allen Terry. He works for WHNT as the Supervising Director. He is a total sweetheart. We enjoy going watching NASCAR and hanging out with our friends on free weekends. We don't get many of those with his work schedule and my coaching cross country and track and field. We cherish the free time we do get together.
