All About Me

My name is Ashley Hodges and I am a wife, mom of 3 boys, a first grade teacher in Madison, Alabama, and Owner of Learning and Beyond.  I started teaching in the fall of 2009.

Since I was a little girl, I knew I wanted to be a teacher. My mom, grandmother, and aunts were teachers. I never really considered any other career path because my passion was teaching.  In 4th grade I was diagnosed with Dyslexia. My parents played a big role in my success. They educated themselves on Dyslexia and empowered me to be successful. It wasn't always easy, but I learned and grew from my struggles.  This diagnosis fueled my passion and desire to teach. I wanted to help others the same way many of my parents and teachers helped me.

After high school I went on to college and graduated from Athens State University in December of 2008. I worked as a substitute in several surrounding school systems until I was hired by Madison City Schools in the Fall of 2009.

I believe that having Dyslexia has made me a better educator!
