Hello! My name is Garyn Miller, and I am so excited to be teaching third grade this year!

I grew up in Columbia, MS and graduated from Mississippi State University in December of 2020 with a degree in Elementary Education. After graduation, I moved back home where I taught 2nd Grade Math at West Marion Primary School in Foxworth, MS.  Two and a half amazing years later, I made the decision to move to a new city and continue my teaching journey! Thankfully, I landed here at Columbia Elementary School! I am so eager to begin my fourth year of teaching at CES!

I believe the classroom should be a comforting and welcoming place where kids want to return because of the loving relationships built within that space. All students are capable of learning.  In order to grow academically, students will gain organizational skills, the importance of self evaluation, and awareness of meeting high, yet achievable expectations.

While teaching is my passion, I have other interests as well. I love spending time with my family, friends, and adorable cat. I enjoy reading, traveling, and binge-watching my favorite tv shows. I love taking on new challenges, whether in my personal life or in the workplace. I am excited to share that I am currently pursuing a master's degree in dyslexia therapy. This will allow me to better support and enhance my ability to provide specialized support to children with dyslexia. I am so excited for this new adventure!
