Hi! My name is Katie Smith, and I am so excited to be part of the Horizon community. Having been born and raised in Madison City, it is truly an honor to return and serve the school system that laid the foundation for my education and life.

I have six years of teaching experience, including one year teaching kindergarten and five years teaching fourth grade. I am passionate about creating a classroom where students feel safe, supported, and excited to learn. I believe every child is capable of meaningful growth, and I strive to make learning engaging, hands-on, and fun.

Outside of school, I enjoy gardening, gaming, and spending time with my family. I live with my fiancé, Adam, and our pets: Pickles the pug, Blueberry the parakeet, and Lily the ball python. I look forward to a wonderful year of learning together at Horizon!
