Coach Adonnaca Burton-Head Girls' Basketball Coach

My education and coaching journey has been incredibly rewarding. I’m thrilled to serve as a Teacher, Head Girls’ Basketball Coach, and Assistant Athletic Director here at Journey Middle School. I hold a degree in Physical Education from Athens State University and a Master’s in Education from the University of West Alabama.

With over 10 years of experience in teaching and coaching, I’ve had the opportunity to teach a variety of electives including Physical Education, Health, and Marketing. I’ve also coached track and basketball at the varsity level for 8 years, helping students grow both on and off the court.

Outside of school, I’m a proud parent to three amazing children and a bonus daughter—Tyon, Melissa, Makenzie, and Zoey—as well as a loving grandparent to my sweet grandson, Omari. Our family cherishes quality time together, especially on beach vacations.

I’m excited to begin my third year as a Journey Jag—let’s make it the best one yet!

Coach Novella Wilson-Assistant Girls' Basketball Coach

I’m a second-year assistant basketball coach with a background in nursing and psychology—and a big love for the game. I played in middle school and two years in high school, and now I’m committed and enjoy helping young athletes grow both on and off the court. With my mix of sports experience and education, I focus on supporting players’ mental and physical well-being while building team spirit and confidence. Driven by a genuine love for the game and a deep understanding of team dynamics, I strive to inspire, support, and lead with heart. Coaching is where my passion for people and basketball come together.
