Mrs. Terrena Mann

Terrena Hope Gonzalez Mann has over thirty-five years of experience as a performing arts educator, playwright, performer, producer, director, and choreographer; and has performed in, directed, written, and/or choreographed 65+ theatrical shows in Texas, California, Tennessee, and Alabama; as well as Six Flags, Dollywood, and internationally televised Ed McMahon’s Star Search. Last year (our inaugural year), Mrs. Mann's JMS 2023 Intermediate Theatre performed the play "Persephone" and the 2025 Intermediate Class performed "The Day the Internet Died." The 2024 Spring Advanced Theatre class performed the musical "Annie, Jr." The 2024 Fall Advanced Theatre Class performed "Willy Wonka, Jr." and the 2025 Spring Advanced Theatre Class performed "Stolen" and original play by Mrs. Mann.

As a small business owner of Hopefool Productions in Madison, she taught voice, piano, and basic acting skills from 2011 to 2019, before becoming a middle school and high school theatre teacher at a private school. Mrs. Mann is excited about the upcoming school year, which will be her third year as a Journey Jag. Mann has worked as a teaching artist, directed and performed in shows, and served on the board at Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theatre and Academy, as well as choreographed for Merrimack Hall’s Dance Your Dreams Program. She has performed in, assistant directed, and choreographed several shows for Huntsville Community Chorus Association since 2010. Recently, her work as a technical theatre creative and designer was featured at the Alabama Center for the Arts Gallery, which displayed images and video of her work in their exhibition: The Art of Decatur Theatre!

 

ABOUT INTERMEDIATE AND ADVANCED THEATRE: Welcome to the exciting world of the performing arts! Intermediate and Advanced Theatre are Semester Courses (ADVANCED: 6th-8th Grade Students Prerequisite: Audition and/or Instructor Approval) Fee for courses: $50 These courses will allow students to build upon foundations of vocal, kinesthetic, emotional, analytical, and intellectual elements of theatrical training through improvisation, dramatization, process-centered elements of dramatic performance, aesthetics, criticism, and history. In addition, this course will focus on one major production each semester. Students must either audition and be approved with a one minute monologue, or obtain instructor approval to register for advanced theatre. After school productions and some rehearsals will take place at the BJ high school auditorium in the fall and JC High school auditorium in the spring, and will be mandatory. Students may also be required to participate in fundraising for the program.
