CMSgt Stephen F. Meunier

This is my first year teaching AFJROTC after serving over 30-years in the United States Air Force. I am excited to bring experiences from my service in the Air Force to help develop citizens of character within the student cadet corps at Bob Jones High School. My goal is to make a positive impact on each and every cadet and to the larger Madison community.

I entered the Air Force in 1994 and after graduation from Basic Training I attended the Security Police Training Course. During Security Police training I was selected for a special duty and assigned to the United States Air Force Honor Guard in Washington, DC. During this assignment, I was assigned to Presidential Colors and Marching Unit where I conducted military funeral honors at Arlington National Cemetery and additionally across the National Capitol Region for heads of state arrivals and other dignitaries at the White House, Pentagon and Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. I culminated my tour standing guard at the White House during the 53rd Presidential Inauguration in honor of President William J. Clinton.

In 1998, I was approved to cross-train into the weather career field, this is where I spent my remaining 27 years of service as a weather forecaster and observer. As a Weather Senior Non-Commissioned Officer, I served in a variety of assignments at the major command, wing, and squadron level as well as assignments with the United States Army. My final assignment at Robins Air Force Base, GA I was the Weather Functional Manager for the Air Force Reserve Command. I managed readiness, training and policy for the command’s 130 military and 30 civilian weather personnel. I also oversaw the sustainment, training, equipping and deployment of the Department of Defense's ten WC-130J “Hurricane Hunter” aircraft and aircrews.

During my career, I served multiple stateside tours in Illinois, along with assignments to Kansas, Nebraska and Mississippi. Additionally, I served several tours overseas, including to Tokyo, Japan and Seoul and Osan, South Korea. My deployments include assignments to Bahrain, Colombia and Thailand. My various awards include the Meritorious Service Medal with four oak leaf clusters, the Air Force Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster, the Air Force Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal and the Humanitarian Service Medal.
