• Welcome to the International Thespian Society! Since James Clemens' founding, we have operated a model troupe: Troupe 8070. Troupe 8070 is for anyone who likes anything to do with theatre! From actors to tech, from those who know every word to every musical ever to those who just want to see what it's all about, from those in their first ever class to those who've been acting since they were little, our troupe is for EVERYONE! Anyone is invited to our monthly meetings, typically held on a Thursday during the second half of refuel. However, those most dedicated to the artform should be encouraged to become inducted members. To be inducted, you just have to acquire a mere 10 "points" (a national system, points can be obtained from working shows to just seeing shows! See what gets you points at linktr.ee/jctheatre) and pay a one-time $45 fee. That payment will cover your induction costs and allow you to receive an honor cord that you will receive prior to graduation (but ONLY if you have continued to be a part of Thespian Troupe #8070 by attending meetings, taking part in community service in some shape and form, and remained in good faith with our program overall).

Students who do not participate in at least ONE JCHS theatre production (in some capacity) during all 4 years of high school, students who do not attend meetings, & students who fail to follow other requirements for Thespians will not receive an honor cord.

Tied to the International Thespian Society is the Alabama Thespian Festival (referred to as ATF or ThesFest), which is held in Vestavia Hills in February. This festival provides the opportunity to perform in Individual Events (IEs), but also to learn from different professional guest artists who are brought in by the organization to lead workshops on a plethora of different theatrical topics that include: playwriting, movement/physicality, programming, drumming, dance, acting, technical workshops, directing, auditioning, etc. Artists from Disney star Jordan Fisher to prominent tour actors to a director of Hamilton have been involved with this event! ATF also provides the opportunity for seniors and juniors to audition for scholarships for colleges/universities! But good news, you don't have to be inducted to attend! Any theatre student is welcome to attend.

Beyond meetings and ATF, our troupe partakes in community service (that is scheduled to accommodate all schedules!), throws occasional parties, and caps the year off with an awards night! While awards night (known as the annual Wilkins Night) is for all of our program, this is when the following school year's officers are announced and when our new inductees are recognized! Inductees can also be recognized at the beginning of the year at our Desserts and Drama event. We hope you'll join us!
