PLTW Computer Science for Innovators and Makers (CSIM) is a Project Lead the Way Gateway course for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders that allows students to explore computer science through physical computing and real-world applications. Students design and program physical computing devices with micro:bits and sensors that address real-world problems, such as home security, accessibility, and outdoor safety. This course utilizes Microsoft MakeCode, a block-based programming platform designed for the micro:bit. Students will complete three projects that will gradually teach them computer science concepts and skills. The course culminates in a Shark Tank-style project presentation.
This course is generally considered the pre-requisite course for CodeSpace - Intro to Python and PLTW App Creators.
